Photo Blog?

After seeing Kevin’s screencast about how Mingus uses inlines to show images I decided to add some pictures here I’d taken in and around Izmir, the city where I used to live in Turkey.

I actually developed an interest in analog photography long ago, signed up for a photo club, went for photo trips etc. At some point, with some close friends we were heavily involved in developing our own films and darkroom printing. Quite strange it is, but I still can remember the processes and the chemicals1. Those were good old days.

Then, everybody had to deal with his own hustle and bustle hence we were taking less and less photos. And of course the time we live in is quite exponential. None of us has long hours to put in the things we love anymore. That’s where passion turns into ‘hobby’, something you do for relief. Don’t get me wrong I have no problems with that. It’s just that we have a very effective, proven built-in mechanism to turn our back’s on the stuff once we loved. It could also be someone or something, you once loved and felt connected to (to numb yourself?).

Anyways, I had a photography burnout and haven’t been taking photos for a long time now. I’m planning to write something about Denmark in general so I may be taking photos in the streets of Copenhagen to complement that.

But first I’ll share the oldies as I said.

  1. That said, “Your photo smells ‘hypo’” is still my favorite admiration towards a well taken black and white photo :)
